The Annual Art Exhibition and Auction at the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) provide a unique opportunity for art enthusiasts and collectors to view and purchase artwork by the Bay Area’s rising stars and celebrated artists whose work reflects the scope of the region’s vibrant and eclectic styles and interests. Silent and Live Auction goers can bid on a wide range of work including painting, photography, works on paper, mixed media, digital media, and sculpture. All auction proceeds support the ICA’s innovative exhibitions and educational programming.
The 2012 Auction Exhibition runs from September 29th to October 27th.. The Silent Auction will be held on Saturday, October 6th from 5pm to 7pm. This popular and lively event features an eclectic mix of more than 75 works in a variety of mediums that will excite novice and long-time art collectors and enthusiasts alike.
Now in its 32nd year, the ICA’s Live Auction gala is one of the Bay Area's most anticipated cultural events of the year. The Live Auction will be held on Saturday, October 27th. Complimentary champagne, wine, savory hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be served. Admission to the Live Auction– always a sell-out event-- is reserved for ticket holders.
And back by popular demand, the ICA is offering visitors a free audio tour of the auction exhibition. Last year, the ICA introduced the use of mobile technologies in the auction galleries to offer visitors and enthusiasts a more engaging and interactive auction experience. The self-guided audio tour of the auction galleries will be accessible to visitors through their mobile phones. The audio tour will include recordings by the exhibiting artists, giving visitors more insight into the works on view and for sale.
The Auction Exhibition and Events are sponsored in part by:

The Core Companies, Jennifer and Michael Cuneo, Daidone Insurance Services, Liquid Agency, and Kathryn Schlepphorst.
