February 1 - March 25, 2008

Dynamic patterns of color and light flicker in the two windows of the ICA during Elaine Buckholtz' 2-channel video projection, Yellow Descending. Made from the artist's experimentation with found objects, light, time and sound, Yellow Descending creates an unexpected encounter on South First Street.

Buckholtz writes, "I'm interested in what's beneath what we see in full stationary light, in moving from the obvious to poetic abstraction. In a culture that is anesthetized with commercial spectacle, I would like to create spaces for self-reflection and conscious observation."

Elaine Buckholtz attended California College of the Arts and received an MFA from Stanford University. She has exhibited at The Luggage Store, The San Francisco Arts Commission, New Langton Arts, The Wexner Center and Fusion Art Space. She has also worked as a Lighting Designer with Merce Cunningham, Meredith Monk, and Pamela Z.
